Our Driveway Replacement Process
Every driveway project follows the same disciplined sequence. Shortcuts at any stage show up as cracks, settling, or drainage problems later — so we don't take them.
Removal & Haul-Away
We break out the existing concrete slab — whether it's a single-car apron or a full two-car driveway — and haul all debris off your property. You won't be left with a pile of broken concrete in your yard.
Excavation & Subgrade Prep
Once the old slab is out, we excavate to the correct depth and address any soft spots, tree roots, or drainage issues in the subgrade. A stable, uniform base is what prevents future settling and cracking.
Compacted Aggregate Base
We place and compact a crushed aggregate base layer to the specified depth. This is one of the most important steps — a properly compacted base distributes load evenly and keeps the slab from moving over time.
Forming
We set forms to establish the final grade, slope, and edges of the driveway. Proper forming ensures consistent slab thickness, correct drainage slope away from the structure, and clean finished edges.
Reinforcement
Where appropriate — based on soil conditions, load requirements, and slab dimensions — we install rebar or wire mesh reinforcement before the pour. Reinforcement controls cracking and adds structural integrity.
Concrete Placement & Finishing
We place, screed, and finish the concrete to a consistent surface. Control joints are cut at the right intervals to manage where the concrete cracks as it cures — keeping those cracks small, predictable, and out of sight.
Curing & Cleanup
Proper curing is what gives concrete its final strength. We apply curing compound or use wet curing methods as conditions require. Once the slab has cured, we clean up the site and walk you through care instructions.
